Context: Why This Is Happening Now
Over the past decade, activity across websites, email, and digital channels has increased dramatically. At the same time, confidence in what that activity means has collapsed.
Three forces created this:
Signal saturation. Machine-generated activity now overwhelms systems designed for human behavior. Most GTM tools cannot tell the difference.
Context collapse. Activity gets logged, but meaning gets lost - across time, role, and buying stage. A click from an intern looks the same as a click from a CIO.
Automation without confidence. Systems are forced to act on signals they cannot verify, amplifying confusion instead of resolving it.
Together, these forces create a loop: more activity produces less clarity, which drives more automation, which generates more noise.
The issue is not data volume. It is the growing gap between what gets recorded and what it actually means.
